Transform your Space: Popular Wallcoverings

by Ka Interiors on March 3rd, 2025

Wallcoverings are currently trending in a wide range of styles and applications within interior design. We can use these to create a unique way to style our homes creating a more personal space, whilst bringing texture and tone to something that can feel flat and unwelcoming. Here we will discuss the popular ways we are finishing our walls:

Panelling…

There are many different styles of panelling being used in our homes, most popular are slats, shaker and moulding/beading. Panelling can completely transform the look and feel of a room, bringing texture, colour and a touch of luxury.

Slats create a contemporary styling and are not always finished vertically or horizontally, you can create an added bespoke styling with some being used to create a more geometric finish.

Shaker creates a minimalist, sleek finish, bringing subtle texture and clean lines. You can personalise this with colour and sizing for a more bespoke finish, as well as adding additional beading if wanting to soften the clean lines.

Mouldings are used to create framing on walls, bringing a traditional luxurious finish, this forms a timeless element to the space. Again, the use of colour, sizing and type of ornate moulding can bring you personality to the space.

Panelling has got to be one of my favourite ways to finish walls, as there is such a variety of ways to create your design, with the finishing details to the colours.

Wallpaper…

Wallpapers are widely used as they also create such a variety of ways to bring the unique styling to your home. From textures to pattern, you can either bring a design that is bold and eye catching, or something that is subtle and warming, with textures that can help carry depth into the space compared to a painted wall, they can aid in introducing warmth, as well as create a luxurious finish.

As well as different designs, the use of wallpapers differs, some use it as a feature, whereas others will wallpaper a full room for a dramatic sense. Either way wallpapers bring character and personality into a space.

If you love a bold wallpaper but feel a little apprehensive, why not start on a smaller room (w/c or utility). Try your boldness here as this also creates a talking point and wow factor for visitors.

Wall Stickers…

I have recently seen more of these appearing. These are great, especially with personalising your child’s room. With bespoke named stickers to a larger mural, all without damaging your walls. As well as using these on walls, up-cycled furniture is having an additional detail, which again is a great addition to any home, adding that unique finish. There are many companies now creating these whether you find an off the shelf style or wanting something bespoke, I find Etsy have some lovely small companies that provide designs unique to them, as well as offering bespoke designs, whether it is personalisation, colour changes or a bespoke design.

I certainly think we will see a few more designs with wall stickers yet, as many people create their own wall in a pattern bespoke to them.

Overall, adding to your walls can have a range of benefits, whether looking to create a unique space, adding colour, creating depth or even hiding imperfections and soundproofing, because of the wide range of options you can achieve this, and at a budget to suit all homes.
